After returning from the peace environments of the National Zoo, Torrie and I participated in the, well, whatever you want to call it. The Peace March. The War Protest. The Demonstration. A Rally. There were participants mainly opposing the war, the escalation, the discrimination of Muslims, protesting Gitmo, protesting abortion, speaking out against the treatment of Palestine, Iran, you name it.

Now that’s how you protest!
After a month or so of protests from the students and others expressing their disapproval of the incoming president at Gallaudet University, the board of trustees voted to terminate the appointment of Jane Fernandes.
What was the protesting about? Some say the students’ fear of change. Some say Fernandes wasn’t qualified to lead the school. Some say they didn’t hear any reason at all.
Regardless, there is going to be some healing needed in the next few weeks, maybe months, but at least Gallaudet University looks like it’s going to get back to business.

Reaching Out to Others Together [ROOT Inc.] is organizing the rally to be held 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Freedom Plaza, located at 13th Ave NW & Pennsylvania Avenue NW.
