Ever since I moved to Washington, DC, I have since day one fell in love with the city. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. All I knew was that there were a lot of powerful people here, you can function effectively and efficiently without a car (sometimes even better without a car), and the Redskins play here.
When I got here, the first thing I noticed was that it’s not just one city. DC is several cities stacked on top of each other. There’s the internationally known city, the epicenter of power, the banker of world currencies and economies, the overseer of all conflicts to some degree, the land of the free and the land of the bullies. Nationally, it’s viewed in a different light. DC is a crime capital. DC has the most confusing streets and is one of the most difficult to navigate. DC has no night life. DC is superficial, saturated with social status strivers and it’s a city confused whether or not it’s a northern or southern city.
