Chris Cooley is one of those Redskins, it seems, that no matter what he does, he'll be loved by the fans. It seems like
we see more articles about Cooley than we do about the other marquee players (and their alter egos). I was thinking we'd see a lot of fresh print about Jason Campbell, maybe a little more chatter the defensive players, the new guys, the WRs...
The draft is next month, right? It seems two things may be happening. Either the coaching staff has a tight lid on what anyone says anymore after the ESPN Magazine article ripped into them; or perhaps no one wants to talk about a year that was a complete bust or an upcoming year that has uncertainties along with it.
Last offseason, I remember Mark Brunell saying anything less than a Super Bowl would be disappointing. He must be suicidal right about now. All the articles last year about the high-powered offense being installed has been reduced to absolutely no talk at all about anyone fearing the offense this year. Or the defense for that matter.
Maybe it's because I keep going incognito this offseason. I still haven't even mentioned
the release of WR David Patten and
signed safety Omar Stoutmire for a second tour of duty. Or maybe it's because the team is either even quieter or finally learned from past mistakeS (the capital S is intentional).
I don't know. No more optimistic talk. No more Super Bowl predictions. No more parades for high priced free agents. No more lawsuits, trade rumors, speculations on Gibbs, introductions of high-priced coaches...
Looks like the Redskins are ready to make that run!
