This is something Maureen sent out for those looking for something to do this weekend. Looks cool, though there sure are a lot of West Africans to say this is about African culture. Whatever, I’m game…

AfroExposure will feature work from upcoming group, such as Mbutu (Uganda- Dance Group) Cote Minou (Cameroon – Fashion Designer), Apexx (Nigeria – Musicians), Nollege Wizdumb (Nigeria – Poet) Tolumide (Nigeria – Musician), Koby Maxwell (Ghana – Musician), Markos Fashion (Ethiopia – Fashion Designer), Afro-1 (All West African – Dance Group) and more.
During this event, the audience will become exposed to a new way of looking at African culture in the diasporas. The performances will demonstrate that despite the diversity of the various countries that make up the African landscape, their cultural uniqueness has been the one common element that makes them who they are — Africans.

When I first learned about Liberia and its history, I was intrigued. An African country founded by freed American slaves. It was during Liberia’s savage war with Charles Taylor and his band of children wearing wigs, dresses and AK-47s terrorizing everyone. There was a plea for America to do something considering the country was founded by Americans.
