More BlacKoreans Joining The Blogosphere

BlacKorean T-Shirts!I thought I was making moves when an opportunity presented itself and I took it, but that pales in comparison to two other BlacKoreans. Mine requires me to cross the river to Virginia. But I come back every day and hate it while I’m out there. My homeboy Daz, though, is packing up to head to Miami while my homegirl Megan will be unpacking her bags thousands of miles away in Korea!

Making His Blogging Debut — Daz

One of the greatest minds amongst my friends is the mind of Danny Byers. But since the former ice cream truck driver doesn’t care to be called Daz, and I’m not about to call him Ballentyne as Asha does, I’ll call him Daz, his nickname since I met him some 20 or so odd years ago.

Danny ByersAnd finally, instead of reserving his thoughts to simply those in earshot range, Daz has finally debuted his blog Byers Club for the masses. It’s still a work in progress, but I figured if I put more eyes on his blog, he’ll get to typing and maybe deleting his “Hello World” test post which we all do when we first get started. Maybe even return the plug and put a bruh in his blogroll.

Well after a few months of tightening up his blog’s design [which makes me wanna do an Extreme Makeover with my blog], he finally started off with his first substantial post. And knowing Daz, it would be something some may consider controversial.

How controversial?

How about questioning if President Barack Obama is black black as in African-American black or simply, half white and half another-kind-of black. Now, Daz isn’t the one questioning the black black in Obama, but he responds to an article a friend sent him about a quote from Aaron McGruder, the creator of the cartoon The Boondocks.

That another-kind-of black is the black you find in Africa, [Kanyadhiang village, Rachuonyo District on the shores of Lake Victoria just outside Kendu Bay, Kenya to be specific] as opposed to the black black that was born from the slavery days of America. Obama’s black doesn’t descend from the ancestors who built this country. It comes from overseas, imported on a college scholarship. In Hawaii at that.

Of course no one is questioning whether or not Barack Obama is black. Even color-blind people can tell he’s not your traditional Anglo-Saxon POTUS. Aaron McGruder is just saying it’s another-kind-of black.

McGruder is just saying Obama isn’t the kind of black black in which roots can be traced to a plantation somewhere in the south [my dad told me a few years ago our plantation is in Orange County, Virginia] and that’s pretty much the end of our lineage. Obama can probably go back to the hunter-and-gathering days before the slave traders showed up to harvest them like crops, just to ship them to the other side of the Earth, to harvest the crops.

That’s Daz. He likes those controversial subjects. Actually, no matter the subject, he can find controversy. He has the mind to see things in 4D, so brace yourself as he finally says hello to the whole world and invites us into the Byers Club.
