With the weather finally inviting people to come out and play, the ladies and I went for a stroll on the National Mall and stumbled upon the Smithsonian Kite Festival. The sky was dotted with kites, some barely hanging in the wind, many others hugging the ground refusing to get up and others so high in the sky you had to wonder how anyone can get a kite up there and make it look so easy.
As we watched all the little kids running around waiting for liftoff, we couldn’t help but to imagine how determined Najwa will be when we take her out there to fly kites. And the one thought racing through my mind was me having to get the thing in the air then handing over the reins after doing all the work. And there were plenty of daddies out there getting a workout while their little ones waited with that look of anticipation making it impossible for a daddy to call it quits.
I better start working on my stamina. Maybe I’ll get a backup kite in case my first attempts end futilely when kite meets ground, again and again. And there were a few broken kites out there.
Of course I took a ton of pictures, but I forgot the change my camera’s settings, so most of the pictures were washed out from a very slow shutter speed better suited for shooting indoors. Nevertheless, here are a few snaps and what I could salvage.
One of these might be me in a few years…
These two photos were victims of a slow shutter speed. But Adobe Photoshop helped make something out of nothing…
And of course I had to take a few snaps of my little one…
