Najwa Awarded Best in Mathematics and Principal’s Cabinet

As much as I want to take credit for this, I have to give it up to mommy for making sure Najwa does her homework every night, reads her book for reading log, gets her dressed in the morning, rushing me in the morning to make sure Najwa is early to school, and everything else that I know I take for granted.  Well, I did lend Najwa my genes, right?

Today was Quarter 3 awards at DC Prep, and Najwa won two awards.  The one I’m most proud about is the Mathematics Award, top in her grade.  I recently was trippin’ at a parent-teacher conference that they’re not pushing her hard enough.  But I relent. Her teachers are doing a great job. Not only did she win the Mathematics Award for first grade, she was one of only two selected for special recognition, winning the Principal’s Cabinet Award for the fourth time. And I’m just as proud of her friend Kennedy, the only other first grader recognized, for winning Most Valuable Preppie of all of first grade.

Of the 200+ public schools in Washington, DC, DC Prep was ranked number 5 according to Niche, a school rating site and directory.

Najwa and Kennedy then were asked to lead the first grade cheer at the end of the awards ceremony.
