DC State Fair
I find it ironic that it’s called the DC State Fair when DC isn’t a state. It’s not even part of the 50 United States of America. And compared to what I remember a state fair being like growing up, it was barely a fair. Held in NoMa this year, a hugely gentrifying neighborhood, it was more like a huge expo with a bunch of vendors of businesses, non-profits and government agencies promoting themselves.
The biggest attraction, for kids at least, was K12’s face painting.
Casey Trees was out there, and drew some attraction from kids, with its spin the wheel game to win prizes.
And there was a pie-tasting contest. I’m not sure which pie Najwa got, but her face doesn’t seem to like it.
Eh. Maybe next year there will be rides, you know, like a state fair.
