Sometimes I catch myself daydreaming about what it’s going to be like in three years, six years, perhaps 10 years from now when Najwa starts to figure out her own tastes, her own style, her own personality. Will she develop an interest in science and math, find a fascination with the stars, help daddy budget his bank accounts? Or does she become an artsy person, learn how to play an instrument, take over this blog with her own views of the world?
Regardless of who Najwa becomes, I’m taking notes on how my homeboy Michael Jackson is with his children Christopher, Bryce and Brayden. Listening to Mike talk about his kids is like listening to a dad talking about his newly-born child. He’s still gets giddy, he’s learning and he’s determined to be everything a dad is supposed to be.
Mike plays ball with and attends the games of his oldest son Christopher; he delays his own wedding when his little girl Brayden wants to be held; and when he came to our BaByQ Shower/Cookout, he’s rockin’ an apron [as seen in the photo] with a drawing by his son Bryce.
Mike serves as an inspiration as I prepare for fatherhood because of how dedicated he is to being an inspiration for his children.
